James Newman’s new Eurovision banger has already outdone last year’s on iTunes

The UK’s Eurovision hopeful James Newman has already outpaced his 2020 peak on iTunes. Deserved tbh!!!

Embers debuted today and, whadyaknow, it’s a banger! The track has surged to No3 on the UK iTunes listings and still seems to have some good early momentum behind it – so could it go all the way to the top? MAYBE SO!

Currently only Rag’n’Bone Man‘s All You Ever Wanted and that sea shanty bloke are ahead of him at time of writing – but in any case, Embers has bested last year’s My Last Breath, which peaked at No6 on iTunes and No23 on the Official Charts Company’s Downloads chart.

That latter song didn’t bother the overarching Official UK Top 100, but if Embers is seemingly going down even better, could it make a bit of a splash there too? It’s even the No3 trending video on YouTube at this moment in time, so it’s looking good. If not now, then perhaps in May.

‘FWIW’, SuRie is the last UK Eurovision hopeful to impact the Top 100: Storm made it to No50 in 2018. The last track to make the Top 40 was Molly‘s Children of the Universe in 2014 (23).
