A six-year-old Ryn Weaver song is about to enter the UK chart for the first time

TikTok is giving another song a random-but-great surge in popularity.

Ryn Weaver‘s The Fool was one of the best albums of 2015, but it was infuriatingly slept-on; peaking at No30 in the US and not even charting in the UK.

Now though, one of its songs – the slightly indie-folky-poppy Pierre – is having itself a bit of a moment.

It’s been enjoying a load of streaming and sales success over recent months, and in today’s midweek update from the Official Charts Company it is on course to enter at No49.

If it holds its momentum and enters the main week-end list on Friday, it’ll be Weaver’s first ever entry on the UK singles chart, and frankly it’d be DESERVED.

The Fool was released on Interscope and Mad Love Records, but Weaver hasn’t released anything in the six years since apart from a demo called Reasons Not To Die in 2018.

If you’re enjoying Pierre, might I recommend you also try out… well, the whole damn album to be honest, but especially Promises. Promises is truly THE ONE.

TikTok is becoming increasingly responsible for songs getting another shot at the big time: most recently, Duncan Laurence’s 2019 Eurovision winner Arcade made its way into the Top 40 for the first time thanks to the social platform.
