Framing Britney Spears broke a ratings record with its UK premiere

Framing Britney Spears was finally hurried out in the UK last night; debuting on Sky Documentaries as it was made available to stream on NowTV.

It arrived off the back of a lot of online hype, celebrity support and critical praise; and it paid off in the ratings: the New York Times Presents film has apparently become the most-watched show in the channel’s history, with almost a quarter of a million viewers.

220,000 might not seem like that big a number, but for a relatively niche network like Sky Documentaries, it’s enormous.

It’s not known how many streams it had on NowTV or through Sky’s own on-demand services, but it’s safe to say that the #FreeBritney movement has comfortably gone global.

Meanwhile, Electric Angels will be counting down her 50 greatest-ever songs – as voted for by you lot – this Sunday.

Currently it’s very tight at the top, and a total of 138 different songs are on the scoreboard – so vote here by Saturday at midday if you haven’t already. Catch the results from 9am Sunday on the site’s radio station.
