Unless you’re a top-tier Eurovision stan, it’s easy to forget – given how useless the UK is at it – that the contest does throw up a fuckload of absolute bangers year in, year out.
Fuego – performed by Eleni Foureira – is right up there with the best of them; cruelly robbed (imo!!!) of a rightful win in 2018 after a performance that included pyro, Cheryl-level choreography (the pop girls just don’t do it like that anymore!) and plenty, PLENTY of hair-flips. This should very comfortably have had Euphoria levels of post-Eurovision international chart domination; but because the world is itself a raging dumpster fuego, it did not.
Also, lest we forget: “Yeah, yeah. Fire.“
- I’ll be writing about my favourite 100 pop songs of the decade; one a day for the last 100 days of 2019. They’re in no particular order, except the Top 10 – which will (obviously) come in late December.
