Loads of your favourite Cool Female Solo Artists (CFSAs) have released great new music this week – starting with L Devine‘s excellent, slick Girls Like Sex. Hopefully her big SUPERSTAR MOMENT is edging closer and closer – this is my favourite song of hers yet. The bit in the chorus when the higher synths come in – ugh!
Grace Davies is also keeping the good stuff coming with her new track Testosterone, co-written by fellow legend Lauren Aquilina. Her voice sounds beautiful, the lyrics are ace, the production is all sleek and sad… another win!
A couple of years on from the intermittently incredible, intermittently frustrating Sucker Punch era, Sigrid is back with Mirror; latching her firmly on to the recently disco-y revival whilst still sounding consistent with her previous work. I wasn’t sure about it on first listen, to be honest (though I LOVE the pre-chorus). It’s growing on me, though!
Elsewhere, Griff – after nailing the BRITs performance a few weeks ago – has a new one out by the name of One Foot In Front Of The Other, MØ is back with the epic Live To Survive, and Sophie And The Giants‘ latest Don’t Ask Me To Change is a brilliant follow-up for Right Now from earlier in the year.
