Little Mix could get their 5th No1 on Friday (but it’s super close)

Little Mix are tracking towards their fifth No1 single, as Sweet Melody leads the Official Charts Company’s First Look. And frankly WHAT a SONG to land the first proper top spot of 2021!!!

It’s EXTREMELY tight, so everything could easily change by the time the final rankings are revealed on Friday – but if the absolute banger manages to hold on, it’ll be the girls’ first chart-topper since Shout Out To My Ex in 2016.

Less than 2,000 sales separate the entire Top 5, so don’t bet your house on it or anything: Ed Sheeran’s Afterglow is the now-trio’s closest competition; with CJ’s Whoopty, Shane Codd’s Get Out Of My Head and Dua Lipa’s Levitating also in with a shout.

A load of previously-massive hits are resurging, as Christmas songs drop like a stone and clear plenty of room for ~regular music. Out of the No1 contenders, Levitating is enjoying the biggest boomerang, returning from the depths of No68 last week.

Justin Bieber’s very good new song Anyone is looking set to be the highest new entry of the week: it’s at No12 in this first flash. Keep up with Electric Angels’ annual, constantly-updated every-bop-this-year playlist here.
