Gabrielle is heading for her best UK album chart position in 20 years

In a rare touch of lovely news, utter legend Gabrielle is on the verge of scoring her best UK album chart placement in two decades.

The star has a new collection out this week: Do It Again, a mixture of originals and covers, including tracks she recently performed on The Masked Singer.

It’s been doing well all week, and yesterday’s (Wednesday) update put it at No2 – showing it’s done a good job of keeping up the early momentum it had at Monday’s halfway mark.

If it holds until tomorrow, it’ll be the first time she’s been that high since 2001, when Greatest Hits set Dreams Can Come True hit the same position. Prior to that, she was No1 in 1999 with the iconic Rise.

Even if Do It Again does slip a couple of places, it could still be her first Top 5 visit since those aforementioned records. It’s her second album released with BMG: her first, Under My Skin, peaked at No7 in 2018.

Elsewhere, Kings of Leon are currently at No1, with an absolutely enormous lead. Zara Larsson, meanwhile, has sadly slipped from No10 on Monday to No18 yesterday. If she’s still in the Top 20 when the final chart is revealed on Friday, I will be ecstatic.
