Taylor Swift has spoken about the moment on Folklore that she’s most proud of, lyrics-wise.
Ahead of the Grammys next week, at which she’ll be performing, the artiste has been reflecting on the excellent surprise summer album that marked a big new chapter in her career and broke a few records in the process.
Epic lyrics are kinda her forté, so she has plenty to choose from in terms of picking her absolute favourite from the era – but it probably won’t be a surprise to anyone that she chose the final line from the chorus of The Last Great American Dynasty.
She told People: “I’m really proud of ‘she had a marvellous time ruining everything’ from The Last Great American Dynasty because it’s about what happens when women step out of their cages and run.
“It can be a real pearl-clutching moment for society when a woman owns her desires and wildness, and I love the idea that the woman in question would be too joyful in her freedom to even care that she’s ruffling feathers, raising eyebrows or becoming the talk of the town.
The idea that she decided there were marvellous times to be had, and that was more important.”
She’s up for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys; while Cardigan is up for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. Exile, with Bon Iver, is shortlisted for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
