James Newman gets UK Eurovision ticket and you’ll NEVER GUESS what people are saying

The BBC have finally confirmed that James Newman is having another go at the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of the United Kingdom this year; charging to Rotterdam with a new track after the cancellation of the 2020 event.

He said in a statement: “I’m so excited and honoured to be getting a second chance at representing my country in the Eurovision Song Contest.

“I haven’t stopped making new music in lockdown and I can’t wait for everyone to hear the song I’m taking to Eurovision in 2021.” Said song will be unveiled in March.

But with everyone still hooked on the Eurovision challenge from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK last week, it’s perhaps no surprise that there are tonnes of people in the replies on Twitter demanding that the United Kingdolls go instead.

UK Hun? is doing better in the UK charts than any Eurovision song we’ve sent for quite some time; given that it’s… yaknow, an actual bop… but hypothetically speaking, would they be able to translate that great-on-Drag-Race success to being great at Eurovision?

Maybe…!! I don’t think it would’ve been possible for UK organisers to get those ducks in a row in time for 2021 given that the Ruruvision episode aired literally last week, but with a big enough earworm, maybe sending an act like them or the Frock Destroyers in 2022 could work.

The verses in which the members essentially introduce the specifics of their personality would have to go, and be replaced by something more universal… and the staging/performances would need muuuuuch more polish than they had on Ru’s Main Stage… but it’s a thought!

Anyway, for now… keep James Newman’s mentions in your prayers.
