Currently her last Top 40 single, Let It Go is a slice of dance-pop heaven from Alexandra Burke – an irresistible sister song for Britney Spears‘ Till The World Ends, which had come out the previous year.
Co-written and produced by Cutfather, something of a pop heavyweight (5ive, Another Level, Sweet Female Attitude, Kylie Minogue, The Saturdays, Jordin Sparks, Pixie Lott, Olly Murs…), it’s a clear highlight on Alexandra’s 2012 album Heartbreak On Hold; all choreo-friendly production, uplifting lyrics and a powerful vocal.
That it didn’t get support from many mainstream radio stations was extremely frustrating at the time, and definitely hampered its chart potential (it tapped out at No33). But it remains an extremely likeable, toe-tappable banger to this day.
Will I ever not be furious that she isn’t the most famous artist in the world? Unlikely!
