Taylor Swift’s re-recorded Fearless: All you need to know thus far

Taylor Swift has announced that the re-recorded version of her breakthrough album Fearless is done, and will be released imminently.

She’s made no secret of the fact that her entire back catalogue is being re-done, thanks to the ownership dispute that blew up with Scooter Braun over the original masters.

But instead of starting at the beginning, it seems her massively successful second album is the first to be rolled out: she confirmed Fearless (Taylor’s Version) on Good Morning America this morning.

Here’s that announcement:

The new version of Love Story is, per earlier rumours, coming out tonight; in time for Valentine’s Day.

No release date for the whole thing has been made official, but random capped-up letters in a social media statement point to April 9 – a date that has now appeared on its Wikipedia page.

This collection will house TWENTY! SIX!!! songs; the 19 originals from the Platinum Edition of Fearless, plus soundtrack bop Today Was A Fairytale and six more that never made the final cut.

Fearless was an absolute monster at the time – it may have been before Taylor truly became a global pop powerhouse, but in the US at least, it was almighty: it has been certified Diamond for shipments in excess of 10 million copies, it was the biggest-selling album in America in 2009, and it also won Album of the Year at the Grammys. Besides Love Story, it also spawned the singles You Belong With Me, White Horse and Fifteen.

If Taylor does this for all her albums that were done before she jumped record label, we can expect to see Taylor Swift, Red, 1989 and Reputation at some point over the coming months as well.

Love Story (Taylor’s Version) was teased in a TV ad back in December – catch that below, ahead of the full track’s release this evening.
