A new Tina Turner documentary should, fingers crossed, be released in UK and Irish cinemas soon, alongside a TV airing.
It’s been reported by outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter that Tina has been acquired by HBO Max for streaming in the US in the spring, after its premiere on HBO itself.
Meanwhile some international territories – including us – will get it on the big screen, as well as on the small one.
Distributors Altitude will release it in April (COVID depending, obviously) as it debuts on Sky Documentaries.
Tina was first announced at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018, and comes from directors Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin.
It is said to chart the icon’s improbable rise to fame, the struggles she faced both personally and professionally, and then her enormous resurgence in the 1980s.
And yes, the lady herself will appear, thanks to interview footage recorded in Zurich, Switzerland.
What a woman. I’m in.
