A past Eurovision winner is set for a new UK chart peak thanks to TikTok

Well this is something that had passed me by entirely: Arcade, the 2019 Eurovision winner from Duncan Laurence, is having something of a chart resurgence – and could actually hit a new peak position this week.

Laurence, of course, remains the incumbent champion of the Song Contest, what with last year’s show being called off – and Arcade originally peaked at No67 following its triumph in Israel.

However, it’s had a bit of traction as a viral hit on TikTok over the last few weeks; reappearing at the lower end of the Top 100 last month. Recently it has moved 95-98-78, and Monday’s midweek update indicates it could be about to go even higher.

It’s looking good to head up to No55 on Friday, potentially even higher if its momentum continues.

Currently the last winner to impact the Top 40 is Måns Zelmerlöw in 2015, when Heroes made it as far as No11. Since then, Toy by Netta peaked at No49, that boring Portuguese fella reached No97, and Jamala’s 1944 didn’t register at all.

Daði Freyr, the presumed de-facto winner of 2020, peaked at No34 last year, thanks – again – to TikTok.
