Daily Bop: Walking On Snow – Jordin Sparks

The opening track on Jordin Sparks‘ second studio album (2009’s Battlefield), Walking On Snow sets the pace for this era perfectly; breezy pop/R&B-production, strong unfazed lyrics and an effortless octave-spanning vocal from the woman driving it all. And that chorus? Divine!!

The song was penned by Frankie Storm, Jeremy Shaw, Lucas Secon and Olivia Waithe; and if the latter name rings a bell, it’s probably because it’s the full name of British-Barbadian artist Livvi Franc, who impacted the UK Top 40 that same year herself with the addictive Now I’m That Bitch.

Walking On Snow is a highlight on what is generally a severely underrated pop album; a record that really elevates the promising start Jordin made with her self-titled debut two years earlier. Incidentally Jordin brought out a new song last week – you can hear that here.
