Feels like Fleur East is rumoured to represent the UK at Eurovision every year, and this year is – you guessed it – no different.
James Newman was supposed to represent us in 2020, but the BBC still haven’t given any update as to whether he’ll be taking our ticket again in 2021 – and if not, who’ll be singing for us instead.
Speaking on Instagram, Fleur is quoted as saying it’s not happening – although she’s not against the idea.
The @uk_eurovision account on Twitter posted: “I just asked @FleurEast on @instagram if she was doing #Eurovision2021 for the UK and she said no. She did however confirm she has written songs with @JamesNewmanUk but not for Eurovision.
“She did say she would never say never and it maybe would be an honour to do it.”
Obviously even if she did have the gig, she probably wouldn’t be able to say yet – but in that case, surely she’d just ignore the question rather than outright deny it?
In any case, hopefully we’ll have some more official news soon.
Eurovision, as I’m sure you’re well aware, is slated for mid-late May and will definitely look at least a little bit different to normal.
