In EXCELLENT NEWS, the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is apparently set to have a Eurovision-themed maxi challenge.
This is it, isn’t it? This is where TV peaks?
One of the main tasks in an upcoming episode will see the remaining queens split into two teams, before joining forces with returning guest coach MNEK (who will also be on the judging panel) to record and perform a track with the distinct air of a Contest-friendly Eurobop.
This was, as a matter of fact, the first ep to be filmed after production was shut down for several months amid the COVID-19 outbreak, so I can only assume the queens still in the competition by that point will be chomping at the bit after spending so long sat at home.
An official synopsis for the February 11 instalment, surfaced by Wiwibloggs, says: “RuPaul and the queens return from their lockdown hiatus and the search for the UK’s Next Drag Race Superstar resumes.
“With the queens reunited and added twists, there is much excitement in the air, but the competition picks up quickly as the queens form two groups for a Europop battle – The RuRuvision Song Contest.
“In a glorious homage to Eurovision, the queens record and perform the same catchy song, but can they swerve the dreaded nul points?!
“MNEK joins Michelle Visage and Graham Norton on the judging panel as a fifth queen sashays away from the competition.”
Presumably, then, this is similar to the Break Up Bye Bye challenge from season one, but with a magnificent new overarching theme. Glorious.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK continues on Thursdays on BBC Three.
