The ongoing international success of RuPaul’s Drag Race means there could be as many as eight different seasons airing this year – five of which will be hosted by Ru himself.
It’s just been confirmed that he’ll be fronting RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, which is set to begin filming in the very near future in New Zealand. Michelle Visage is on board for that too, and it’ll involve queens from both NZ and Australia.
On top of that, we have Drag Race season 13 and UK season 2, both of which are on air now; and further down the line we have an upcoming sixth iteration of All Stars and – if schedules return to normal – the third season of Drag Race UK as well.
Plus!!!!! Without Ru, the second season of Canada’s Drag Race is due at some point in 2021, as is the debut run of the Spanish version.
That’s not even factoring in the future of Drag Race Holland, which has yet to be picked up for another cycle. If it is, that’d take the total number of Drag Races this year up to eight.
We COULD begin the “ugh TOO MUCH!!” conversations, but given the state of… well, everything… you can bet I’ll be lapping each and every one of these fuckers up.
