Britney Spears’ new-old Swimming In The Stars gets proper release

It was offered as a limited edition vinyl single a while back, but now Swimming In The Stars by Britney Spears – another offcut from the Glory era – has been properly unleashed online.

Most excitingly, it’s produced and co-written by Matthew Koma; whose credits include Hilary Duff’s Breathe In Breathe Out and Kelly Clarkson’s God-tier album track Someone.

It’s a sweet little cut. You can see why it didn’t make it onto the album’s original tracklist, given that it’s not quiiiiite on the same page ~sonically as the rest of it. But as an individual track I’d say it’s at least better than, say, Private Show and What You Need.

Of course the bigger issue is perhaps whether this is a Britney-sanctioned release, or an attempt from her People to profit off her while she’s on hiatus… but perhaps that’s for another day. She seems happy.

A new deluxe edition of Glory is out on vinyl this Friday (December 4), tying in with her birthday today (December 2). GOD I MISS HER.
