Miley Cyrus‘ new album Plastic Hearts is out today; riding a wave of enthusiastic reviews (it’s on 78 on Metacritic at time of writing) and making 2017’s forgettable Younger Now look like a one-off blip.
On first listen, it’s full of good stuff – but this is the early stand-out for me.
Gimme What I Want is produced by Louis Bell and Andrew Watt, who also twiddled the knobs on Midnight Sky, and it could very easily make for decent single material.
It’s been compared to Nine Inch Nails’ Closer, and basically revolves around her telling a prospective lover: “Gimme what I want, or I’ll give it to myself”. It’s dark, slick and it’s been in my head all day.
Very good. Listen below.
