Revenge – the show with one of the best first-seasons of the decade – is being rebooted at ABC, per Deadline. I GASPED.
The Emily VanCamp-starring supersoap comes from the original’s creator Mike Kelley and writer-producer Joe Fazzio, and will reportedly have a Latinx immigrant lead character trying to get payback over the death of her mother.
Apparently she will be guided on her quest for vengeance by a character from the original series, though that character has not yet been identified (it’s gonna be bloody Nolan, isn’t it).
US ratings for Revenge were actually pretty steady for the first three seasons (8.72m season one, 8.87m season two, 8.44m season three) but interest had fallen off a cliff by the end (the final episode had 4.8m viewers) and perhaps it would have been better suited to the current TV era where 8-10-episode seasons are far more popular than the full 20+.
Of the original cast, Emily VanCamp is now starring in The Resident, a medical drama with The Good Wife’s Matt Czuchry; and she’ll also be in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, reprising her role as Sharon Carter in the MCU.
Madeleine Stowe (Victoria Grayson) will be in the upcoming musical drama Soundtrack, due on Netflix next month. Nick Wechsler (Jack Porter) has been on This Is Us and Dynasty; Josh Bowman (Daniel Grayson) was the villain in the Rosa Parks ep of Doctor Who; and Henry Czerny (Conrad Grayson) was in the horror movie Ready Or Not earlier this year.
