Demi Lovato has spoken out in public for the first time since being hospitalised in the summer of 2018 for an apparent overdose.
Talking at the Teen Vogue Summit in LA over the weekend, she confirmed that she does have new music on the way, but she is being extremely careful about when and how she puts it out there.
“I have new music coming,” she said, according to Billboard – adding after audience screams: “I didn’t say when.”
“It’s important to remember that I am so cautious this time around of jumping back into things. I’ve really decided to take my time with things, so when the time is right to release new music, I will put it out there.
“I am dying to release new music.”
She’s also set to star in Netflix’s Eurovision film, and in an episode of Will and Grace.
Demi has (without due credit!) been one of the most consistent bop machines of the last decade, but it’s reassuring to hear her being explicit about how careful she’ll be about properly returning to the public eye. Fame has been tough on her.
“What a lot of people don’t realise is that I’m actually an extremely sensitive person,” she said on Saturday.
“I am human, so be easy on me. And I’m so tired of pretending like I’m not human. That’s one thing that I won’t do anymore.
“When you say stuff, it affects me. I’m human. I try not to look, but I see it.”
