Ah, the Cherylbanger time forgot. Fight For This Love was (deservedly!) iconic, Call My Name was one of the big summer anthems of 2012, and even Crazy Stupid Love, Parachute and I Don’t Care have decent streaming totals.

But what about Promise This? DOES NOBODY REMEMBER PROMISE THIS?!?!?

Released a year after the 3 Words era – and just months after Cheryl literally almost died – it’s an impressive bop that actually, on reflection, wouldn’t sound out of place on a Saturdays setlist. It also led to what is, in my opinion!!, the greatest of all her generally excellent X Factor performances; and the one she did on Children In Need – where it started acoustically and then crashed into the main version – was stupendous too.

This is very turn-of-the-decade and I bloody love it.

  • I’ll be writing about my favourite 100 pop songs of the decade; one a day for the last 100 days of 2019. They’re in no particular order, except the Top 10 – which will (obviously) come in late December.
